The west London postcode area includes some of London’s best known residential areas and many sought after exclusive places to live such as Notting Hill.

West London property is highly desirable for many reasons and there are many of London’s most exclusive addresses within the W postcode areas.

The area is particularly favourable for its transport connections; the underground network, bus routes and main roads provide straightforward access into central London and Heathrow airport is within easy reach as are several motorway networks.

Made infamous by the film, Notting Hill, released in 1999, the area was a popular place to visit and live long before the movie propelled it to superstardom.

Whilst visitors are largely drawn to the likes of Portobello Road, its regular market and the bohemian shops located here, residents enjoy large period homes, many with direct access to communal garden squares on quiet wide streets.

When considering West London property, Notting Hill is perhaps one of the best known areas and many of the most exclusive addresses in Notting Hill can be found within the Ladbrook Estate conservation area.

The properties which have access to communal gardens whilst also having their own private gardens found on roads such as Ladbroke Square, Lansdowne Crescent, Kensington Park Road and Elgin Crescent. These addresses are only a short distance from the also very prestigious area of Holland Park.

Westbourne Grove is a particularly prestigious stretch within Notting Hill, the road is lined with designer boutiques and popular places to eat and drink including the Daylesford farmshop and cafe.

Properties on the roads immediately surrounding Westbourne Terrace rarely become available to buy.

Where to live in Notting Hill

Notting Hill has many exceptional schools, more private run establishments than state run.

The top state run schools in the area include Westminster Academy and Holland Park. Private schools include Pembridge Hall and Wetherby.

Holland Park is a small area bordering with Notting Hill and Kensington, of all the West London property those located in Holland Park are particularly sought after.

The area is filled with stucco-fronted property, several green spaces and independent shops and boutiques.

For being so close to the action it is a very peaceful residential area.

The large houses with generous gardens on roads such as Holland Park and Clarendon Road are desirable places to live.

To the south of the Holland Park area towards Kensington High Street roads such Addison Crescent and Melbury Road are particularly exclusive addresses.

Overlooking London’s Hyde Park, West London property located within the W2 postcode area situated on or just off of the Bayswater Road demand much attention should they become available to purchase.

Lancaster Gate in particular is one of the most exclusive addresses in W2.

The Lancasters is a Grade II listed, stucco-fronted building, apartments within this particular building are highly sought after.

A little further along towards Marble Arch, properties on Hyde Park Gardens boast some of London’s most prestigious addresses.

Residents benefit from access to a particularly large and well maintained private gardens as well as only being a few minutes’ walk from the vast spaces of Hyde Park.

Kensington, W8

Kensington is home to some of London’s finest residential addresses with the likes of Phillimore Gardens and Upper Phillimore Gardens amongst the most exclusive.


Period homes within the prestigious De Vere Conservation Area are also particularly exclusive addresses such as those properties on Cottesmore Gardens.

Home to the monarchy since 1689, Kensington is one of west London’s most prime districts.

There are also several new developments in Kensington which are highly desirable places to live such as Vicarage Gate, Holland Park Villas, Holland Green Place and One Kensington Gardens.

West London property offers some of the capital’s most attractive riverfront living, with the houses on the Hammersmith riverside being the most exclusive addresses within the W6 postcode.

Both Lower Mall and Upper Mall are filled with prime properties that rarely become available to buy.

Hammersmith riverfront benefits from its close proximity to Hammersmith station for many underground line connections whilst also being well connected to the A4 which runs onto the M4 motorway making journeys to Heathrow airport very short.
